Who We Are

Tau Kappa Epsilon was founded on January 10th, 1899, on the two most basic principles that have guided our Fraternity for the last 120 years:

We are the only Fraternity to have never had an exclusionary clause—meaning that even in 1899, only your character is what mattered—not race, religion, culture or socio-economic status.

Our brotherhood and our uniqueness stem from the idea that what makes TKE strong are the individuals that make up our colonies, chapters, and alumni associations across the country. We do not ask you to change; individualism is KEY. There is no “ideal TKE man” because that is YOU.

In today’s world, coming of age and college can be a confusing time for young men. Everyone is connected via social media, but we want more. We want to be able to learn about ourselves, each other, and life with diverse sets of people who can guide us along the way. Tau Kappa Epsilon is that opportunity whether you are joining an existing chapter or starting a new one. Leadership, networking, creating culture, and pursuing excellence are all key ideals in Tau Kappa Epsilon that have allowed us to lead the Fraternity world since our inception.

We need you to help us to continue that path forward, growing stronger together than we ever could imagine alone.

Become a Founding Father

We hope you are ready to take full advantage of this upcoming year. Now that we can get back to a more 'normal' college experience, there is a lot to take advantage of and it will be your decisions that make your time here as rewarding as possible.

Some students and parents are skeptical of Greek life. News and media can often paint a very poor picture of fraternity life and how it can affect someone’s life negatively. However, Greek life is a diverse and positive experience for the majority of those who choose to take an active role in the community.

We want to offer you an opportunity to share in that positive experience.

TKE is here to help you connect with the OSU community, alumni (over 2,300 Tekes!) develop your skillset and make your collegiate experience even more valuable and memorable. We are open to all ages, cultures, creeds and religions. In fact, we are the only fraternity in North America to have never had an exclusionary clause in our constitution—dating back to our founding in 1899—making us one of the most inclusive fraternities in the world.

You have the opportunity to improve your on-campus involvement and resume; and, most importantly, create the fraternity experience you believe fraternities should provide.

We look forward to talking with you about this and other opportunities available through TKE. Use the form below or click here to get in touch with us an learn more about TKE and our New Member Scholarship.

The Omicron Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon at The Ohio State University was installed as a chapter on May 27, 1921.

Since 1899, Tau Kappa Epsilon has never had an exclusionary clause for membership. TKE does not judge men on their wealth, rank or honor, but instead on their personal worth and character.

Our mission is to "to aid men in their mental, moral, and social development for life." In essence, we build Better Men for a Better World.
